I’ve made a determination earlier this week, that I would have to close down my Joy project. The main reason for doing this is that I’m not getting any voluteers for the project.
The Joy Project was one of my first projects as I understand myself as a photographer. I created it trying to capture what made people happy, what brought them Joy. My first session was in 2019 with my final session in 2021, which means that I was not able to get anyone to volunteer to participate in almost 3 years. For this reason, I am closing it.
The other reason is that I have more active projects happening right now: Black and White in 5 Movements (which sometimes seems like it’s 5 projects and not one) and the Lights of Melbourne. Between the two of them and the future project that I’ll start this year, I’ve got my hands full.
As such, I will leave the Joy Project still under active for the month of April and then I will archive it with my other completed projects. Should I ever get a volunteer again for the project, I may re-open the project privately and will most likely not be published on the website.
