This week was action week: I proposed to take photos of the chickens in action! I am proud to say that most of them did stick to the theme, but there was one that was a resting action (explained below). In trying to capture movement in their daily play, they can be quite unpredictable, making […]

So, I was looking at the Chicken (6 of 52) post, from my 52 Weeks of Chickens – 2nd Generation and I noticed that I had a very similar post from the original 52 Weeks of Chickens. Sophia was my muse for that photo, but the look of curiosity is there in both. Below is […]
View Article This week was a normal week, in the sense that there was no theme for me to stick to. With that, I was able to take a lot more photos, which also made it a lot more difficult to choose. Once more, I’m starting to think that one of them is a cockerel. As much […]

As I progress in the project 52 Weeks of Chickens – 2nd Generation, I have come to the conclusion that the idea of a “Detail Week” was horrible. This is true especially because they are so young and cannot sit still. Because of the challenges of taking the photos, this week was not very fruitful […]

I don’t do a lot of black and white photos, because I love bright beautiful colors. So last week’s challenge for black and white photos of the chicks was an interesting one. Not being familiar with BW photography, I took all photos fully colored. I tried to get as high contrast as possible in the […]

Valentina might actually be Valentino! This week was a sad week for me in relation to the chicks. I love them so much, but we cannot have any roosters around. We had Albert for a brief period when we lived in Hobson’s Bay, and that turned out to be a nightmare (even though Hobson’s Bay […]

As suggested in my previous post, I will focus on one aspect of photography. This week I’m proposing to only use my 50 mm prime lens. This is a bright lens (f/1.8), but with that aperture, come some challenges when trying to get them all in focus. Consuelo has started showing some (one actually) black […]

Of course planning needs to happen. If it didn’t, it wouldn’t be me. So last night, I decided to evolve the project a little more. So, each week, I will focus on a photographic aspect. As an example, this week (week 3) I will only take photos with my 50 mm f/1.8. Considering that the […]

This week we finally settled on the names of all the chicks: Consuelo (eldest), Valentina (middle sibling) and Dolores (youngest sibling). We are not sure if we are going to buy the rings to put on their feet to identify them, as we did with Sophia and Victoria, because they are pretty different from each […]

And so we start again. Dean brought 3 little chicks today. We have come up with two names, but haven’t been able to give the names to the chicks. We also wouldn’t know how to identify two of the 3. Here are Consuelo, Dolores and (Jane Doe).

Yesterday was a beautiful day, so I decided to go for a walk (exercise). It is within the restrictions permit, so I took my camera, as I would. I walked a lot in uneven terrain exploring the creek. I finally got close to where I live in the creek and ended up finding an easier […]
