I believe it is very clear that I need trips to set as milestones throughout the year. When I was single and had no real financial commitments, I would do this with international travel: fly somewhere around the world 3-4 times per year. The world has changed and I am a different man. Now, I look forward to doing local trips in Victoria and/or Australia.
The next trip I’m planning after Woodend, is for the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. This time we are looking at going to do a road trip from Melbourne to Lakes Entrance. I have already booked a unit to stay in Lakes Entrance that I can cancel by early May without any cancellation fees. Because it is still a fair bit away, we are still deciding if this will proceed. Having said that, I would like to believe all will be good and we will be able to make the trip.
It will be the start of winter in Australia, which means it will be cool. Based on historic data, the temperatures in Lakes Entrance will be between 6oC and 18oC. Not the greatest temperatures for a beach holiday. But again, beaches are not the only thing we’ll be going for. I’ve heard/read great thing about how beautiful Lakes Entrance is and that’s what I’m putting a lot of faith that it will be as beautiful as the online photos make it to. I will photograph the town and surroundings.
In Lakes Entrance, I have a couple of shots I want to take that allow me to prepare for them: sunrise over the ocean, and Night Sky by the Marina. All other photos in town will be more or less spontaneous.
Lakes Entrance is just a sleeping spot. The trip originally started by me looking around the Snowy River National Park and the stalactite caves in Buchan. I will try to make the most of going up there (about a 40 minute drive from Lakes Entrance) to look at the cave and maybe do a hike or two in the reserve.
As mentioned above, it is still early days in planning, so it may not even happen. But I am excited and let’s see what we can get out of it. If we invite friends to come with us, it will make the trip even more affordable (but that needs to be agreed with my husband before hand).
