Days left in quarantine: 9
In the US, we had a fair bit of Mexican/Tex-Mex food. The food has a lot of rice and beans in it. Rice and beans are also a staple in Brazil, and recently (before the trip) I had started making rice and beans as part of my dinners. With the fridge as it was, there is no way I could make rice and beans – see photo of the fridge in day 3. But now that the rest of the lobster is gone, we have some room for rice and beans. So last night for dinner I had some (but not Dean), and had some again for lunch today.
Dean is in significant pain because of the leg. He stays cooped up in the bedroom all day, watching whatever netflix or youtube have to offer. This is not good for him. Yesterday, after I finished working, he turned to me and said:
“Let’s go outside for a drive. I can’t stand staying home for this long.”
This morning he woke up in such a bad mood, and I don’t blame him. He needs to give himself goals and activities so he doesn’t just stew in the condition that we – but especially him – are in. This just makes things even worse. I will try to find an activity he and I can do together to see if it will brighten up his mood.
This morning, after breakfast, he went back to bed and fell asleep.
One of Dean’s uncles visited our future house (that is almost completed) today and FaceTimed us while he was there. This really lifted Dean’s mood significantly. It was very exciting to see all the little details being fixed, albeit slowly, moving towards the completion. We are very excited and we should move in, hopefully, shortly after the quarantine is over.
