This week was action week: I proposed to take photos of the chickens in action! I am proud to say that most of them did stick to the theme, but there was one that was a resting action (explained below). In trying to capture movement in their daily play, they can be quite unpredictable, making […]

So, I was looking at the Chicken (6 of 52) post, from my 52 Weeks of Chickens – 2nd Generation and I noticed that I had a very similar post from the original 52 Weeks of Chickens. Sophia was my muse for that photo, but the look of curiosity is there in both. Below is […]
View Article This week was a normal week, in the sense that there was no theme for me to stick to. With that, I was able to take a lot more photos, which also made it a lot more difficult to choose. Once more, I’m starting to think that one of them is a cockerel. As much […]

As I progress in the project 52 Weeks of Chickens – 2nd Generation, I have come to the conclusion that the idea of a “Detail Week” was horrible. This is true especially because they are so young and cannot sit still. Because of the challenges of taking the photos, this week was not very fruitful […]

Valentina might actually be Valentino! This week was a sad week for me in relation to the chicks. I love them so much, but we cannot have any roosters around. We had Albert for a brief period when we lived in Hobson’s Bay, and that turned out to be a nightmare (even though Hobson’s Bay […]

As suggested in my previous post, I will focus on one aspect of photography. This week I’m proposing to only use my 50 mm prime lens. And so we start again. Dean brought 3 little chicks today. We have come up with two names, but haven’t been able to give the names to the chicks. We also wouldn’t know how to identify two of the 3. Here are Consuelo, Dolores and (Jane Doe).

I can still hear Victoria’s gawking outside the kitchen door, asking to be put back in the chicken run. That used to be an annoying, yet comforting, sound: Victoria asking to be reunited with her sister (Sophia). My father-in-law (to be) came over yesterday while I was at work and buried our two girls. I […]

I woke up at 2:30am with horrible noises coming from the chicken coop. I jumped out of bed and ran to the chicken run only to find a fox running away and both the chickens dead. (not going to get into the graphical details here) I did not have a good sleep after that and […]

This week the girls were all over the place. Having said that, it’s mostly Sophia in the photos, Victoria was a bit camera shy. Anyway, here are the photos of Sophia and Victoria.

The weekend was a bit all over the place, but I was able to take the photos of the girls. Now I went to a wedding last night in Daylesford and didn’t take my camera as I thought we would drive back last night after the wedding. But we started to drink and felt that […]
